Things to consider before buying the Callaway Epic Irons
Callaway are always one of the first brands to bring something new to the market and to break new ground in terms of the irons and technology bought to market and the Epic irons are no exception. The Callaway Epic Irons have the capability to offer to transform your golfing game. Regardless of whether you’re new to the sport, you have a high handicap or a regular, seasoned player, the irons would be a tremendous addition to your iron collection. These irons are suited to be used by both males and females and for all sorts of ages. It’s also worth noting that they could be used within any tournaments you may have or if you simply enjoy playing a casual game on the green - these irons are versatile.
The Callaway irons really are enjoyable to use and to hit the ball with, taking the stress and pressure from your body and doing the hard work for you. They are incredibly consistent when it comes to performance out on the course, and with solid distance and launch, you may be surprised with the results they are capable of delivering. Players can certainly enjoy the sweet sound as the face of the club meets the ball, ensuring a clean, crisp swing for you. The irons look totally impressive, have a unique design located on the back of the face and there’s no denying the shelf appeal they provide. The irons even include the ultimate next-generation 360 face cup technology, the best forgiveness and offers an incredible launch and controllable flight.
Before investing in these irons, there are some things you should consider. First, there’s the price. They’re not the cheapest irons you’ll find on the market, so if you’re new to the sport, it may be worth spending some time playing before deciding to make the purchase. This way, you can justify the price of the irons and continue to play. You should also consider what you’re looking for from your collection - if you’re looking for irons that provide great distance and launch when hitting the ball, then these irons could be a match for you. When it comes to reviews and feedback, the number of sales of these irons speak for themselves. You could say that the hype and generally overwhelming reviews have not been far wrong.

Features and Benefits
Next-Generation 360 Face Cup Technology

This unique feature claims to be a game changer to the sport and Callaway has managed to revolutionise the way in which these irons are used. The feature allows the player to enjoy much more speed and distance on the ball when hit with the iron. The Face Cup is made from a material of Callaway’s choosing, meaning the face is much stronger than the body. This also means that there’ll be much more flexibility across the face, meaning more ball speed and COR. You’ll find the inner rim of the irons flexible and thin, meaning the face will flex efficiently. This will increase the speed of the ball and a miss-hit is less likely to occur which ensures a more precise hit and a higher score out on the course.
Exo-Cage for Energy Lensing and Maximum COR
To provide the stability to cope with the ball speeds these irons can produce, Callaway has introduced their Exo-Cage frame. This feature allows the weight to be spread to the outer of the club. This also allows the body of the iron to stiffen, meaning the face can take more of an impact. The feel of these irons is that of a premium, forged feel without compromising on the workability of them. The weight of the irons is distributed cleverly and effectively within the more strategic locations of the instruments. This is to lower the CG and increase the MOI. This means that they’re more likely to be forgiving, makes it easier for the ball to be launched, and a more accurate swing.

MIM’ed Tungsten Infused Standing Wave

These irons require secure bonding, seamless fittings and should be robotically welded. Each Callaway iron is created and built using maximum performance. The MIM’ed Tungsten Infused Standing Wave is a feature used by engineers to position the CG for farther launch and carry. The technology also allows a more controlled flight for the ball, and more left to right CG control. Engineers have been given the freedom to create a set of irons with incredible performance advantage, and with this feature, players should be able to see an improved difference when playing.
High-Performance Players’ Shape
This feature provides the player with a better feeling and workability needed when playing golf. With a smaller head and slimmer topline than a range of other irons, this provides a great benefit to users.

One Year Guarantee
These irons have a one-year guarantee when purchased which means you can enjoy playing knowing that you can play with confidence. It’s highly unlikely, due to the level of engineering behind these irons, but Callaway can assist with any issues in the first year.
Design and Appearance
These irons are more compact when playing, with a marginally wider sole, a satisfactory top line, and a streamlined face. They are not bulky and annoyingly large in the slightest. They are easy to carry around because they feel quite light and their sleek design certainly makes them easy on the eye. With the addition of carbon fibre and a hint of colour above the brand, they look and feel good to play with. In my opinion, when using the iron, it struck me how clean and crisp each iron is, considering the level of engineering and technology that’s behind each product.
Robotic welding
The Callaway engineers had the freedom to work on the technology and capability of these irons and this is no different when it comes to the actual structure. They have the tightest tolerance, meaning they used robotic laser welding and precision milling for total control over MOI, COR, CG location, and the vibration. All this without compromising on the structural integrity which is rather impressive.

Callaway Epic Irons - Social Proof
I took some time to scour the internet to see what the world thinks of these irons. The reviews were astounding, with many claiming that the use of technology is truly amazing, they look incredible with tremendous shelf appeal and the materials used are second to none. Although there are some comments about the price of these irons and that the performance doesn’t justify the price tag, the majority of comments dispute this and claim that if you spend time on the golf course and regularly play, you could see a major improvement whilst using these irons.
"
The balance and weighting felt good through impact. It’s nice to have an iron that feels strong like that.

The face has some spring to it. The ball comes off fast, even on mis-hits. If forgiveness had a feel, this club would be it.

How does the Callaway Epic Irons compare?
Ping G400 Steel Irons
Finished with hydro pearl chrome, these irons are designed to give a higher launch and a faster ball speed. Features for these irons include a toprail undercut cavity, a one-year guarantee and improved sound and feel when playing with these clubs. The Ping brand is all about game improvement, and this is no different when it comes to these irons. Made with stainless steel to allow for more flex at impact and a rubberised feel to the COR-Eye to lessen vibrations and to refine the feel of the hit, these irons have great look and feel to them. The Ping G400 steel irons are also a more affordable option than the Callaway irons, so if you’re new to the sport, this may be a great alternative for you. You can read more about these irons here.

The TaylorMade AeroBurner HL Irons Steel promises to enhance players’ iron play. With wide soles and larger heads to inspire confidence With a thin, fast face to maximise the distance of shots, these irons are a great alternative.
These irons are all about speed and forgiveness, making them the ideal alternative. With a larger face, these irons can flex more giving a more wooden feel. They also look incredibly professional, affordable and can dramatically improve the quality of your golfing.

Titleist 718 AP1 Irons
These irons are different due to the Callaways due to their increased moment of inertia, provides consistent gapping and focuses more on the landing of the ball, rather than the flight. These irons are engineered precisely for players of all levels of ability, meaning there’s something for everyone. They’re easy to hit, floats in the air and stops on the green quickly. These irons are more affordable than the Callaway collection, meaning they may be a more appealing choice for novices and for those that are not particularly interested in the good looks of an iron. If technology is a key selling point for you, it may be worth you leaning more towards the Callaway collection. You can find out more about the Titleist 718 AP1 Irons here.
