Finding the correct golfing equipment for your needs and style of play can be tough but when you do, your gaming experience will be enhanced dramatically. Finding the most suitable clubs, irons and indeed, a wedge is imperative to your comfort, confidence and results. This PING Glide 2.0 Stealth wedge review will reveal all its benefits and features and who knows? It may be the missing club you need for your collection.

Things to Consider Before Buying a PING Glide 2.0 Stealth Wedge

If you’re looking for a durable, hard-working wedge, then this may be the one for you!

Whilst playing out on the course, this wedge is able to generate an incredible spin on the ball with low flight and feeling very controlled. The ball, when hit with the wedge, stops fairly quickly meaning you can predict distances that much easier.

If you’re new to the sport and looking to improve your quality and skillset, want a wedge that is more than capable of doing most of the hard work for you and also looks incredibly stylish, then this may be a great option for you.

The ideal customer for this wedge is a beginner who has a handicap and limited knowledge and skill when it comes to the sport. What’s great about this wedge is that it is able to grow with you so when your expertise, knowledge and skillset grow, the wedge is more than capable of going along for the ride with you. Whether you’re a male or female, this club is suitable for you.

Before going on to purchase the Stealth wedge, you should consider whether you plan on playing the sport for the long-term. A good-quality wedge is an investment so make sure you’re committed and that you plan on getting out and actually playing with your wedge. If you prefer to play with a physically thinner club, then it’s worth noting that this is on the chunkier side so it may be worth getting out and actually testing the wedge before going on to buy. You should also consider purchasing the wedge with a guarantee so that you can relax and play with confidence, knowing PING can assist should you need them.

PING Glide 2.0 Stealth Wedge Detailed Review

The 2.0 Stealth wedge promises to deliver its user a soft yet responsive feel, meaning you can enjoy more accurate and direct play out on the course, and who knows? You may even notice a remarkable difference in your scoring. Boasting precision milled grooves, you can enjoy the maximum spin on your shots and a quick stop distance meaning you can make better and more direct decisions. The wedge has been designed to give a sleek and stylish look with a dark finish, to ensure that those who enjoy appearance, as well as performance, are impressed. PING is even able to offer a service whereby your wedge can be tailored to fit in with your needs and style of play.

There are competitors out there on the market, including the Glide, made my PING. Although good, this wedge is more focussed on short-game performance which isn’t ideal if you want to play long and to fully enjoy high spin and ball speeds and an opportunity to work on your swing. Although the level of engineering and technology has not been compromised when it comes to the Glide, I feel that the 2.0 Stealth wedge is so much more suited to a wider range of players, especially if you’re relatively new to golf and are unsure of the style of play you’ll enjoy the most.

What’s great about the 2.0 iron, in particular, is that it can grow with you, meaning as you improve and gain more experience, you can take your club with you - saving you money in the long-term too!

Pros

  • An affordable wedge with no compromise on technology
  • Versatile and is able to grow with the player
  • Made with optimum materials
  • A one-year guarantee when purchased
  • Maximum ball speed on shots

Cons

  • It does look chunkier than others available on the market

Features and Benefits

Made with optimum materials

The head of the iron is made with 8620 carbon steel as well as precision milled grooves meaning players can take advantage of the high-spinning shots the softer feel generates. This also gives you a greater sense of control of your shots and swing speed. Although it’s a well-discussed topic that the wedge isn’t the sleekest available, the team at PING have used Quench Polish Quench to give the impression of a smaller head due to its high shine and glare, so for those who are swayed towards a smaller and more stylish wedge, this feature may be of interest to you.

Maximum ball speed

The Precision Milled Grooves have been designed and included to increase the spin rate to give more control over your style of play. This feature has been included to enhance spin rates by around 200rpm on full shots, which is something that has the power to truly transform your game. Regardless of whether the turf is wet or dry, you can take advantage of fantastic spin consistency.

Personalised fittings

It’s important to make sure that your wedge is tailored to you and your style of play. PING can fit you for your sole grind, taking into account your angle of attack, style and preferences.

Bottom Half Groove

This feature is an interesting one as it promotes effective engagement with the ball. This significantly improves control when playing in all sorts of conditions, as well as increasing ball spin.

Various grinds

The 2.0 Stealth wedge can offer a variety of grinds depending on your requirements. The SS Grind offers a sole for all needs and purposes and a trail and heel edge to enable you to enjoy great flexibility and versatility around the green. The SS Grind is ideal for those who enjoy a moderate attack on angles out on the course, which is the vast majority of golfers. The WS Grid is designed as a full-sole and for those players who have a deep attacking angle, this feature provides security for you. To prevent digging when taking a shot with the wedge, a reduced camber has been included to add width, something which can certainly benefit those with limited golfing experience. The TS Grind promotes and encourages precision on the shots taken. These shots are made using the open face of the TS Grind, with no fear of the edge sitting too high. The final one is the ES Grind, and this is a feature that provides the best in bunker performance. With a refined lean edge and a tapered hosel, this has the capability of upgrading performances from all levels of players.

PING Glide 2.0 Stealth Wedge - Social Proof

I spent some time browsing the internet to see if any other player or golf critic shared the same opinions as I do when it comes to the Stealth wedge. It turns out, many agree. Although it’s widely discussed that the wedge is quite chunky compared to others available on the market, the darker finish does give it a slightly thinner and smaller look. The wedge is able to give a fantastic spin when hitting the ball and it’s nice to use a wedge that gives a really controlled hit and sound. It’s also a big benefit to being able to predict the distance when hitting the ball and its stop position enabling us to enjoy an even better score out on the course. Many reviews suggest that they wish they’d found this wedge sooner, due to the level of control and spin they bring to the game. Not only this, but they have great turf interaction and as they can be tailored by PING, they can be played on the rougher surfaces. The overwhelming online reviews claim the wedge is a fantastic addition and I really cannot argue this point!

Awesome out of the bunker. It’s the sole, man: You can hit it out of all types of sand.

Feels and looks like a pro club. In varying terrains, I could make it work.

How does the PING Glide 2.0 Stealth Wedge compare?

Callaway Golf Mack Daddy 4 Chrome Wedge

The most affordable option out of all the alternatives mentioned, the Callaway Golf Mack Daddy 4 chrome wedge does not compromise on technology and versatility. Boasting Groove-in-Groove technology, soft carbon steel and 4 unique sole grinds, your wedge can be tailored to accommodate you and your style of play. Depending on your attacking angle, playing style and the conditions of the course, these wedges can certainly accommodate due to the level of engineering and technology implemented. Although cheaper than the rest, this wedge also comes with a one-year guarantee so if anything does happen to your club, Callaway will be more than happy to assist.

TaylorMade Milled Grind Wedge

If you’re in the market looking for a highly consistent wedge, then this could be the wedge for you. The main feature of the TaylorMade Milled Grind wedge is its consistency whilst out on the course. This is ideal if you’re new to the sport and making a great deal of miss-hits, which affects everyone occassionally! Made with leading-edge technology, the wedge benefits from steeper sidewalls, precision weight port and optimum materials. The wedge also comes with a one-year guarantee meaning it can be used and enjoyed without the concern of anything happening. Although this club isn’t the most affordable currently available on the market, users could take advantage of better scores and even more enjoyment which justifies the cost, in my opinion.

Titleist SM7 Vokey Tour Chrome Wedge

Although on the more expensive side, look, consistency and control the Titleist SM7 Vokey wedge provides, more than makes up for this! With a progressive centre of gravity, milled grooves with a dedicated focus on spin as well as precise distance gapping, these features are tour validated and boasts shot enhanced versatility. When using this wedge, you can enjoy maximum ball speeds, and precise shots even on a miss-hit which is ideal for those who are new to golf and lacking some experience. The wedge also comes with a year-long guarantee, as with the others meaning that should anything go wrong whilst playing, you can get in touch with Titleist and they’ll be more than happy to help.

Should I buy the PING Glide 2.0 Stealth Wedge

If you’re looking for a consistent, resilient and hard-working wedge, then this is definitely an option to consider. It’s no secret that the majority of online reviews agree, scoring highly across the board and providing a fastball spin when hit. Although when it comes to looks, it isn’s the best looking on the market, however, it’s truly magnificent in what it can do and the playability it can bring. Offering tremendous control, great versatility and an option to be tailored, depending on you and your style of play is quite amazing, in my opinion.
