Things to Consider Before Buying a TaylorMade Milled Grind HI-TOE Wedge

Finding the right wedge for you and your style of play can be difficult and takes time and error, no doubt. TaylorMade has bought to the market a set of copper coloured wedges that not only look beautiful but work with the optimum technology. The aim of these wedges is to provide great versatility, provides incredible chips and explosive shots, regardless of terrain. So if you have consistency issues or quite simply want to enjoy better shots out on the green, then this wedge should be able to help you on your way.

Regardless of whether you’re a high or low handicapper and if you’re a male or female, this wedge could be an ideal option. If the wedge is suited to professionals and tour players, it may be useful for you! The great thing with this wedge is that it can grow with you, meaning you’re covered with its one-year guarantee, but also, as you grow in confidence and level of playability, you can continue to use the TaylorMade HI-TOE wedge.

Before making the commitment to purchasing this wedge, you should consider whether you enjoy golf and plan to play for the long-term. The reason for this is that the product is an investment and even more expensive should you decide to buy the whole set. Take some time out on the course to play with the wedge and familiarise yourself with its weight, its features and benefits and decide if it’s the right product for you. It’s true that it won’t suit everyone, so really get to grips with the HI-TOE wedge before placing your order.

TaylorMade Milled Grind HI-TOE Wedge Detailed Review

The TaylorMade Milled Grind HI-TOE wedge is a tool that has the capability to provide greater points whilst out on the course, bringing more control to swings and versatility whilst playing on a range of terrains.

When purchased, the wedge comes with a one-year guarantee, meaning you can relax and play with confidence knowing that TaylorMade will assist should anything happen to the wedge whilst in play. The wedge comes with Milled Grind HI-TOE design with full-face scoreline, trapezoid-shaped pockets and high bounce leading edge. There’s no scrimping when it comes to engineering and technology and when you’re playing with TaylorMade, you expect this level of expertise.

When compared to the market leader, the Titleist SM7 Vokey Tour Chrome Wedge, it’s clear that the TaylorMade wedge is more focussed in terms of the technology offered. Whilst the Titleist wedge also offers consistency and a great level of control, the TaylorMade looks and performs better due to its high level of engineering. Consistent, enjoy high spins and the possibility of even better scores, the TaylorMade not only looks great, but is a real pleasure to take out on the course. The Titleist is a cheaper alternative, however, if you do have the budget, then I’d advise that the TaylorMade is the prime option.

Here are some pros and cons to purchasing the TaylorMade HI-TOE wedge.

Pros

  • Beautifully unique colour
  • Increased control and versatility
  • Controlled gravity and weighting
  • Good level of technology
  • You are able to purchase a set if desired

Cons

  • The colour can wear off
  • A considerably high bounce which won’t suit everyone’s style of play

Features and Benefits

Here are the features and benefits of the TaylorMade Milled Grind HI-TOE Wedge.

Standard Sole (50°, 52°, 54°)

The standard sole feature is an all-purpose grind, perfect for those full shots into the green. This is suited for normal and soft terrains.

4-Way Sole (56°, 58°, 60°)

This is a new form of engineering that TaylorMade have worked into this wedge. The 4-Way cambered sole with a mid-bounce design of 10 degrees. This means the wedge has a blunt contour as well as a leading edge, meaning you can enjoy better relief out on the course - something that’s a great addition for golfers that have average or steep swings whilst playing on regular turf or soft sand. This feature in particular is great for me, due to my playing style and preference.

ATV Grind (58°, 60°, 64°)

Although there’s been a clear focus on bringing you a uniquely coloured wedge, there has also been a concentration on the level of workability this wedge can provide. With enhanced heel, toe relief and a trailing edge, you can play with ease over the green. Design with Full-Face Score Lines.

Spin and consistency

One thing this wedge really does provide is consistency. When practised and enjoyed, you could get better and improved scores. The design of this wedge creates a higher sense of gravity for a lower launch with even more spin. Another feature is the high bounce this wedge provides, meaning you can take advantage of less resistance and less excessive digging.

Trapezoid-Shaped Pockets

In this wedge, there are three trapezoid-shaped pockets that have been implemented in the cavity for the greatest level of weight distribution, which in turn, contributes to the workability and confidence whilst playing with this wedge. You can improve your confidence levels and hopefully, enjoy even greater scores.

Colour

One of the less obvious features of this wedge is its colour. Although it may seem fairly irrelevant, I think this wedge looks beautiful and I know that when I take it out on the course and take my shots, I really do enjoy looking at it. It stands out from the rest, is a talking point amongst my friends whilst out on the green, and it actually performs really well too, which is also a huge bonus! Although it has been known that the colour does fade with its uses, I know that my TaylorMade HI-TOE wedge looks as good as new, which is great.

One-year guarantee

This a great addition to the list of features and benefits TaylorMade have decided to include with this wedge. It may be small, but it allows for you to relax and play with confidence out on the course. If you do experience any issues whilst playing, TaylorMade will be more than happy to help and take it from me, their customer service and assistance are second to none.

TaylorMade Milled Grind HI-TOE Wedge - Social Proof

I personally feel that the HI-TOE is absolutely beautiful, something that hasn’t been echoed throughout other reviews. Some claim that the look takes a bit away from the wedge itself however, I completely disagree. I think it looks sleek, stylish and stands out from the crowd. In terms of its engineering and technology, the online reviews wholeheartedly support my opinion. Completely versatile and fun to use, players report playing with increased confidence and greater results. There’s also an added element of control whilst using the wedge out on the course due to the open face and an all-round good feel. Players also report and mention the high bounce the wedge produces on a wide range of terrains, which although may not be suited to all players and their styles, it is indeed a firm favourite amongst tour players and professionals. Reviews also widely comment on the affordability of the wedge, especially when considering the well-known brand, its features and level of technology. I also really like that it comes with a one-year guarantee, meaning that although it’s highly unlikely if I do have an issue or incident with the wedge, I can get in touch with the friendly team at TaylorMade and they’ll be more than happy to help.

Titleist SM7 Vokey Tour Chrome Wedge

The Titleist SM7 Vokey tour chrome wedge has a brand new performance standard, as the name suggests. The wedge works to improve three key areas - the control a player feels out on the course, the playing consistency and the fact that players can enjoy even more spin when hitting the ball. These features work to bring you a greater level of enjoyment and confidence whilst out on the course and gives you a real belief that you can make the shot you want. Features of this wedge include spin milled grooves, an improved centre of gravity and acutely precise distance gapping. This wedge is on the more affordable side of the market, however, this isn’t reflective of the high quality of this wedge. You can also relax whilst playing knowing that this wedge has a one-year guarantee, because should anything go wrong, Titleist can assist. It’s highly unlikely, but it’s a good feature to have.
